Papier Collé on panel
This body of work is inspired by the delicate lines found on vintage mining maps. I incorporate additional layers of translucent paper marked with ink to evoke an illusion of depth and connection.
Embedded within these pieces is a subtle commentary on our relationship with the earth. Marks dancing over the map's surface mirror the energy and spirit of natural forces that shape the land. Hand-drawn lines and gestures serve as a metaphor for humanity's impact on the environment.
I gravitate towards using natural and handmade materials in my practice. Some of the ink I use is brewed from walnuts gathered near my home in New Mexico.
These pieces range in size: 36 x 36 inches, 40 x 30 inches, 20 x 20 inches
